ABOUT THE SILK TREE

Our mission is to promote holistic wellness through the time-honored practices of Chinese Medicine in a nourishing and spirited environment. We combine the healing power of acupuncture, herbal remedies, tea ceremonies and adjunct techniques to restore balance and enhance overall health. Our compassionate approach treats the whole person by addressing the root cause of the illness, not just symptoms, empowering our patients to achieve ideal well-being naturally or with integrative care.

OUR ORIGINS

That first acupuncture needle sparked something extraordinary. Not only did it help me weather the storm of cancer treatment, but it awakened a vital force within me I hadn't known existed. Post-remission, I attempted to return to my corporate life, but something had fundamentally shifted. The fluorescent lights and endless meetings felt hollow compared to the profound healing journey I'd experienced.

This burning desire to help others rediscover their own life force led me to pursue a doctorate in Chinese Medicine. Now, every patient who walks through my door reminds me of my own journey from illness to vibrant health. Through the gentle precision of acupuncture needles, the profound wisdom of herbal medicine, and the meditative power of tea ceremonies, I guide others toward their own awakening.

This is more than my profession—it's my life's calling, born from the depths of personal challenge and transformed into a mission of healing, awakening, and renewal. Through The Silk Tree, I offer others what acupuncture first offered me: not just relief or recovery, but a path to rediscovering their most vibrant, authentic selves.

- Dr. Kelsey Irvin, L.Ac.

Life has a way of illuminating our true path, even in our darkest moments. When I received my Hodgkin's Lymphoma diagnosis, I couldn't have imagined it would become the catalyst for my life's most profound transformation. During my cancer treatment journey, my oncologist suggested acupuncture for side effects—a recommendation that would alter the course of my life forever.

Dr. Kelsey Irvin, DACM, LAc, Dipl. OM

Dr. Kelsey practices both Traditional and Classical Chinese Medicine, trained in the lineage of Jeffrey Yuen — 88th generation Daoist priest — and holds both her Masters and Doctorate from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts. She founded The Silk Tree in 2025 after leaving a career in civil engineering, driven by a desire to do work that genuinely helps people heal.

In the treatment room, Dr. Kelsey's approach centers on acupuncture paired with essential oils and herbal medicine. She has a particular passion for women's health and oncology support, though she treats a wide range of conditions including pain, digestive issues, and everything in between.

When she's not in the clinic, you'll find her outside with her husband and two dogs, hosting tea ceremonies for friends, at a concert, tending to her chickens, in a hammock with a good book, or wherever her husband can be convinced to travel next.

April holds a Master of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts and came to Chinese Medicine by way of an unlikely path — a prior career in natural resource management, where she spent years working to preserve the health and diversity of public lands. That background gave her a deep, systems-level understanding of balance that she now brings to her patients.

April works with a wide range of conditions including pain, insomnia, anxiety, headaches, and migraines, with a special focus on women's health. She's known for creating a treatment space where people feel genuinely heard.

When she's not in the clinic, April can be found spending time with her husband and two daughters, watching her daughters' soccer games or on a walk with her dog, Indigo.
